What is the difference between the moderate fee and the Directory?
After speaking with the consultant from the Moderate Fee Plan, you will be contacted by the therapist especially chosen for you. The Directory gives you the opportunity to personally select your therapist. The therapist fees are listed in their profiles and may not be as flexible as the Moderate Fee Plan.
How will my fee be determined in the Moderate Fee Plan?
Your fee will be determined with the Psychologist to whom you are referred in your initial meeting. Guidelines will take in to consideration your income and other available resources (including insurance) as well your financial obligations.
What is the phone consultation?
If you call 1 800 POSTDOC (1 800 767 8362) and leave a voicemail or use the consultation form (link), you will be contacted by a Member of the Executive Committee who will discuss your situation and preferences. The member will locate the best psychologist for you who will contact you in a timely manner to set up your first visit.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
Therapy can take anywhere from a few months to a few years depending on the problem(s) you want to address. Ultimately, however, you determine when you want to stop your treatment.
How many times a week are the sessions?
The frequency of sessions may range from 1-3 times weekly. Generally, the sessions are 45 minutes for an individual, 60 minutes for a couple and 90 minutes for a family.
What if I need medication?
You will be referred to a psychopharmacologist who will provide a consultation If medication is prescribed, there will be periodic follow up visits as needed.
What if I do not like my therapist?
You should address all concerns about the treatment and/or your therapist directly with your therapist. Therapists welcome an open discussion with you.
